What a weekend!

Hello Everyone! I have had a busy few days. It was unbelievably cold on Friday...about 2 degrees Celsius which is a bout 35 degrees...wayyy to cold for my California butt!!! Needless to say we had to go shopping and get some more suitable clothes...:). Yesterday we went on an excursion to Segovia which has a famous aqueduct built by the Romans a long time ago. It was absolutely beautiful!! We then went to watch Real Valladolid play Real Madrid at a local bar....Sadly but not surprisingly, Madrid kicked our butts!! It is really cool though how every bar shows the game and everyone is a fan!!
This morning I got to experience the amazing public healthcare system because my right eye was swollen shut! I lucked out with an English speaking, American loving doctor and a nun who gave me a shot in the toosh! Haven't gotten one of those since I was a kid! Insurance then paid for us to take a taxi home. We had the nicest cab driver who found possibly the only open farmacia on a sunday (everything, serious EVERYTHING is closed), and the taxi driver gave us a good bar to get wine and tapas that would definitely make my eye feel better :). It was a good experience even though I was a one-eyed quassi!! I will write more as it happens...but miss you all!

Hola Amigos!

Hi Everyone! I can finally keep you up to date on my European adventures! This past weekend several of my Cal Poly counterparts and i went to San Sebastian over the three day weekend. Although it was raining the whole time we managed to have a blast! The city is beautiful, with several places you can hike up and see panoramic views. The food is amazing as well (though not cheap!). They have a variation of tapas called pintxos, and at some places they prepare meat fresh for you! We headed back to my home in Valladolid on Monday, and have been catching up on schoolwork the past couple of days. The weather has been good, although a lot colder than good ol' California! I have been trying a lot of new things (mainly fish), so I am definitely expanding my tastes. Tomorrow we get to eat paella which my host madre Merche is an expert at! It is a traditional dish in spain and usually served with shellfish, but she spoils my picky butt by serving it with meat! I will let you all know how delicious it is the second time around :). Hasta Luego!
